When We Are Closed

NHS 24 is now responsible for all out of hours arrangements in Lothian. If you require urgent medical attention out of hours please telephone 111.

Please have your name, date of birth, address, medication and details of illness ready when you call.

Initially a call handler will take your details and offer appropriate further advice. This may be telephone advice, an invitation to attend a treatment centre or, if necessary, arrange for a doctor to visit you at home.

NHS 24 provides cover from 18:00 to 08:00 during week-days and from 18:00 on Friday until 08:00 on Monday. This includes public holidays and practice learning training days.  NHS 24 is now responsible for all out of hours arrangements in Lothian.

Accident & Emergency Cases

Our nearest accident and emergency department is the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for adults and children 15 years and over and the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People is for children under 15 years. If you have an accident which requires hospital investigation or X-ray you should proceed there directly.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
